ClustrMap

Here’s the latest – no new lights as far as I can see. There’s an interesting circle formation in the Western US with no lights inside. I need someone to go to Vegas and look at my blog!

UPDATE: The map has refreshed since I wrote the above, and there ARE two new lights [...]

Testing what happens with a cut

There are rumours of problems with the new LJ GUI today.
Apparently if you put in a cut, and post, and then edit, the end cut tag is moved to immediately after the opening tag, thereby not putting your content behind the cut.
I’m going to see if that’s the case.
No, I can’t replicate it. Perhaps [...]

Text messaging drunk teens

I don’t think this scheme is going to work.
I have often thought there should be a text message number to send messages to if you see dangerous driving, so I read this with interest. But I think this scheme is badly thought out.
For a start, it only has a limited window of opportunity. [...]

Harry and the Kumaras

Jimi Kumara’s latest post, which I’ve only just read because I don’t check him every day, is the most touching and thoughtful blogpost I’ve read in a long time.
Three cheers for Jimi, Mrs K and Harry.

Blogs and politics

David Farrar often comments on journos and politicos blaming blogs for casting aspersions on Helen Clark’s wise and thoughtful government of us all. Helen Clark has spat out the word “bloggers” in sentences that suggest she doesn’t actually know what one is.
I see via NHS Blog Doctor who quotes Chicken Yoghurt that UK politicos [...]

Pet peeve #73

I had to ring up Barclaycard (a UK credit card company) today – that was bad enough. I got a message because it was out of hours and their tomfool website didn’t indicate the opening hours of this so-called Customer Service line – ANYWAY I thought I’d give it a shot and wasn’t surprised [...]
