Heck!

I’ve just realised that my banner pic at the top of this page is no longer the view from my window. And as the view from my current windows are neither as scenic or colourful I will have to do something arty to reencapsulate verisimilitude.
Or I could just leave it as it is. [...]

Blogs, bloggers, bloggesses

On Tuesday I had lunch with Make Tea not War and Short and Sweet Like Me, the former I had met before on a blind lunchdate, but the latter was a first-time meet.  All three of us were and are goddesses in our own special ways
Isn’t it funny how we are how we are in our blogs, but three-dimensional rather than two.  My [...]

Ooooh, new interface

Wow, WordPress has a new interface.  I wonder if it will work better in Opera than the previous one (which I had to nurse at times).  Still, it looks very snazzy, and feels wizzy and Ajaxy and fun.
This was actually going to be a post about Clive James. I miss Clive James. Do [...]

US Presidential countdown

Nigel at Hand Made Luck is going to review presidential candidates once a month between now and the election.  I normally don’t come across the lesser candidates, indeed I don’t usually really know what the two major candidates stand for apart from whether they are Democrat or Republican, so this will be a required read.

If this is serious…

…it’s very serious
DPF has reported that Parliament computers are blocked from reading blogspot domains. No more Wanda Harland or Short and Sweet Like Me, no more Hand Made Luck or McGovern Online, no more Law West of Ealing Broadway and, ah, this will be the reason, no more NZ Human Rights Lawyer.
If it’s a mistake, let’s hope it is corrected soon.  If it isn’t, then ….what?

RSS feed reading

Starting to get to grips with Windows Vista – well, not really, but sufficient for my purposes.
Much to Podna’s chagrin I am busily trying out the new wizzy gadgets, which, frankly, are not much different to the ones I have been using in my Unix/Linux windows for oh, about 15 years. There is, however, [...]

Twittering

Do you Twitter?  When I started twittering, I thought it was all a bit silly.  But I find I want to see what’s happening in the lives (who are we kidding, moments) of the people I follow, and occasionally I will relay something via Twitter that doesn’t seem worth a blog entry.  Like Facebook, MySpace [...]

Interesting blogosphere

I’ve been browsing some of my fave blogs.
Today in NHS Blog Doctor I found a post from last week where he discusses elderly care. I seem to have managed to arrange matters, for the time being at least, so that I am on the opposite side of the world from my parents AND my [...]

This is it

I’ve been feeling a bit guilty that I haven’t uploaded all my Livejournal stuff to here yet – it’s been a couple of weeks since I transferred anything. I’ve decided to just move to here and transfer stuff as and when. I’ll put a link to the old blog so that readers can [...]

Advance warning

Not blogging much at the moment. To be honest I’m still too busy at work and don’t feel like using the computer much when I get home. But the other reason is that this blog will be moving to WordPress (yes, Make Tea’s suggestion)
I’ve had a look at the features and I like [...]

I take it all back

I have just discovered that my posts from December 2005 (14th Dec to be precise) are there really, you just have to go looking for them
So I don’t have to move after all.
But I’ll still think about it.

NaBloPoMo

Isn’t it typical that on the one month I am aiming to post at least a message a day for other reasons, that it’s NaBloPoMo and lots of people are posting a message a day.
And isn’t it typical that I skipped a day already, because, you know, I was out, doing stuff, and thought it [...]
